A RUGBY 7s side formed in Penryn won a trophy as part of a national festival in Newquay.
The O’Neills Eggs 7s collected the Vital Existence Cup at the Newquay Surf 7s tournament after going unbeaten through their matches.
In the group stage of the competition, the Eggs defeated Torbay Blues 45-5, Scotty’s Tigers 38-0 and 40-0 against Huddersfield in Pool C, romping through to the knockout stages.
Old Rutlishians awaited them in the Quarter Finals and put up a good fight for most of the game before Eggs eventually won 45-14 with a few late tries scored.
They then recorded a 38-0 win in the semi finals against the Bearded Crows in what was a much more competitive game than the scoreline suggested.
The Eggs finished the job off in the final against RAF Police with a dominant 45-0 victory, scoring seven tries in the process, to make up for finishing runners-up in 2013.
After the final, the team donated their £100 prize money to the Cornwall Air Ambulance charity.
