FOOTBALL: Retail park plan for Treyew Road agreed
TRURO City could be getting a new stadium after plans to build a retail park at Treyew Road were agreed today.
Officials from the club, Jojo Investico who own the ground and developers Helical Retail signed the contract which would see the ground turned into a retail park.
As part of the deal, City would have a new stadium up to Football Conference standard with a 4G pitch built for them before leaving their current home.
In a statement, club chairman Peter Masters said: "This agreement is the result of a substantial amount of work and cooperation between the parties over many months.
"In this respect, once again Truro City Football Club owe a debt of gratitude to Dale Band and his team at Nalder’s Solicitors for their expert legal advice producing what proved to be a very complex development contract binding all three parties together.
"With the burden of past negative events extinguished, our league status and future success will now be decided by the team performance on the pitch, sponsors, volunteers and importantly, supporters passing through the turnstiles.
"As guardians, we both feel very proud and indeed privileged to have steered Truro City Football Club through what has been its most challenging period in the club’s 125 year history."
Plans were first drawn up by the club in January before being formally announced in May.
