CATAMARAN sailors from across the UK came down to Restronguet for a racing tournament on Saturday and Sunday.
Windsport International held the Dart 18 South West Championships at Restronguet Sailing Club with 26 crews participating in a series of six races onboard their Dart 18 boats.
The competitors formed the largest fleet of the boat, first developed in Penryn 40 years ago, to sail out of the club on the west bank of the Carrick Roads docks where Olympic gold medalist Sir Ben Ainslie first learnt his craft.
Over the races, sailors had to deal with fluctuating wind speeds over the well laid course which allowed for exciting battles on the waters.
Taking home the title were the father and son team of Mat and Jakob Exon who had travelled down from Bridlington, Yorkshire, to be part of the championships.
The best placed local crew were Wyl Menmuir and Anthony James who finished fifth overall following consistent top ten places in the races.
