MEMBERS at Budock Vean had another enjoyable week filled with competition in many forms on the course.

On Sunday, the men played their Monthly Medal and two thirds of the field returned net scores under 70. This reflects not only the weather but also, after all the tireless work of the Golf Manager, Tony Ramsden, and his Head Greens Keeper, Warren Jeffries, during the very difficult winter, the wonderful condition of the course.

There were just a few high scores and three outstanding ones. Tony Grace was third with 64, Dennis McQuillan second with 63 and Rob Eccleston, after a few weeks indisposed, won with an excellent 61.

On Wednesday the Ladies played an EWGA Medal which, after a hard fought contest, was won by Marlene Williams with 68. Shirley Mildren was second with 70 and Sue Parsons third on countback with 70.

On Tuesday the Seniors played a Yellow Ball Stableford contest in teams of three. Each player took the yellow ball in rotation and its score, which was doubled, plus one other score was taken on each hole.

The pressure of playing the yellow ball probably affected everyone, but some more than others. The final winners with a score of 123 were Bob Hartnell, David Townsend and Brian Hoskins. In second place with 118 were the trio of Dennis McQuillan, Peter Robinson and David Stevens.
