A TEAM GB triathlete will be helping swimmers raise money on Saturday and Sunday for a marathon effort.
Mark Lewarne, who is also a teacher at Penryn College, will be at Cornwall Pools showroom in Indian Queens as 28 teams of up to five people will be collectively swim 26 miles to raise £10,000 for Cornwall Air Ambulance.
The pool being used will be one of the firm’s Endless Pools, which using technology similar to a treadmill allows people to swim in a limited space against a certain flow speed.
Olympic gold medalist Alistair Brownlee used a pool like this to recover from a torn Achilles tendon ahead of the London 2012 games.
Teams taking part in the charity swim will feature British athletes including Lewarne, pictured above, who has taken part in Triathlon World Championships and is also a double European champion surf lifesaver.
Alongside the swimming, entertainment will be provided by music and a barbecue.
