PAIRS stepped out onto the course at Budock Vean Golf Club on Sunday to compete for the Gardner Salvers Foursome Medal.
The format, which is used in the prestigious Ryder Cup, sees the duos play with one ball between them, with each taking alternate shots.
It is considered the most difficult form of golf, but the players managed to card some impressive scores.
Winning the medal were Bob Hartnell and David Stevens who scored 62.5 points, beating Barry Williams and Stephen Crouch on count back. Finishing third were Stephen Penrose and Mike O’Hara with 63.
During the week, the club hosted its monthly medal for the male members. Taking home the prize for July was David Russell with a score of 64.
The female golfers at the course also had a competition on Wednesday as the Captain’s Day was held.
In a stableford contest, which included refreshments after the ninth hole, Jill Sulley came out on top with 40, a point ahead of second placed Barbara Craig. Mo Salome finished third on count back from Lesley Upperton with 38.
