AN EMPHATIC 5-0 win for Helston Athletic over Penzance on Saturday saw them claim the 2014 Dave Gardner Trophy.
Goals from Matt Fox, Mark Goldsworthy, Ben Stidwell, Dan Stidwell and Charlie Young sent Athletic to glory on the final day of the competition held at Porthleven’s Gala Parc.
The victory followed by a 5-3 win against the Fishermen the previous Saturday before defeating Falmouth Town 5-0 on Tuesday, giving them a full nine points.
Port finished second overall after beating Town 3-1 in the tournament’s final game, putting them on six points having won 6-1 against Penzance on Wednesday.
Town came third overall in the tournament, named after the popular central defender who died from cancer in 2003, after their 2-1 win over Penzance in the competition's opening game last Friday.
