THREESOMES stepped out at Mullion Golf Club on Sunday to contest the RO Gilbert Trophy.

The Texas Scramble formatted competition is a popular one at the course and is held in memory of former captain and president at the club ‘Ginger’ Gilbert, who also worked hard to support the sport around Cornwall.

After the golfers toiled in the sunny weather, it was the team of Jason Peters, Dan Reid and Matt Fox who finished on top with their score of 59.7, putting them half a point ahead of Ashley Spinks, Pip Piper and George Davis.

John Rosevear, Wilf Hutchinson and Dave Trivett completed the top three with their score of 61.1.

Gilbert’s daughter Alison Meagor was on hand to present the trophy to the winning trio.
