AN OUTSTANDING round of 60 saw Mike O’Hara claim the plaudits at Budock Vean Golf Club on Sunday to win the Monthly Medal.

With perfect weather conditions for golfers, half of the field carded net scores of below 70.

But it was O’Hara who produced the best round of all, with his score being three better than anyone else on the day.

Kevin Bate finished second on 63 while Rob Gibson claimed third place after carding 64.

Last Wednesday pink was the colour at the course as the ladies played a Stableford competition for charity.

The players turned out for the Pink Day hosted by women’s captain Jenny Wake with money being raised for Little Harbour Children’s Hospice South West.

In the competition, Fay Joffe came out on top with 43 points, one ahead of Lesley Upperton in second. Barbara Craig finished on 41 points to finish third.

A Texas Scramble match was held the day before with teams of three stepping onto the course.

The trio of Roger Mildren, Brian Hoskings and Tony Grace came first with a net score of 60, after hitting a gross tally of 66.

Rob Butler, Barry Williams and Rob Bryant matched the gross score, but their net of 60.9 pushed them into second while the team of David Townsend, John Blatter and Andrew Varney finished third with a score of 61.

On Sunday the club will be hosting their annual charity day.
