That's it from me. Entertaining game for a season opener. Both sides wanted the win and did not hold back.

Hope you enjoyed the blog. See you next time.

5:04pm

Just spoke to Town boss John Dent. He was happy to see team get three goals, but frustrated with mistakes which led to Newquay's goals

4:59pm

Early score from elsewhere:

Truro 0-3 Chesham

4:55pm

Probably a fair result in the end. Both sides played well. Attractive first game of season

4:54pm

Falmouth 3-3 Newquay

4:52pm

90+2min: OFF THE BAR! Simcox runs upfield for Newquay and sends a volley towards goal, but it crashes onto the bar

4:50pm

90+1min: Trevaskis wins battle in air to get header goal bound, but it goes wide

4:48pm

88min: TOP SAVE BY PETERS! Barnet turns and hits shot on target, but Town's goalie punches clear

4:47pm

88min: free kick to Newquau just outside Town box

4:46pm

87min: Evans gets head onto long free kick, but Vercoe makes comfortable save

4:44pm

If I was to make a prediction, I'd say Newquay will get a winner here. They look a bit fresher

4:41pm

82min: Turner puts ball into Town net, but offside flag is up

4:40pm

81min: Subs for both teams. Westgarth replaces Wearne for Town and Bidgood for Jarvis for Newquay

4:39pm

Westgarth now putting his shirt on from subs bench. Has Dent got one last ace up his sleeve?

4:37pm

77min: GOOD SAVE BY VERCOE! Great set up by Town and Evans gets shot away on edge of box, but Newquay's keeper gets hand to it. Was on target

4:35pm

Into last 15 minutes here. Newquay seem more confident now, but this in the balance

4:32pm

71min: Town substitution. Vanes on for Burton

4:28pm

65min: Corner for visitors isn't cleared and B-Evans slams it home. It's 3-3 now

4:26pm

65min: GOAL NEWQUAY

4:24pm

Just past the hour mark. Town still ahead and holding out well. Not being too defensive despite the possible temptation to do so with thus lead

Just past the hour mark. Town still ahead and holding out well. Not being too defensive despite the possible temptation to do so with thus lead

4:18pm

57min: good cross by Burton across six yard box cannot find a sliding Trevaskis. It's Gazza at Euro 96 all over again

4:17pm

56min: Town sub Sincock for Pope. A bit of holy guidance?

4:16pm

55min: Sims sends a shot fizzing wide, but it's deflected on way out. Corner is cleared

4:15pm

Looks like John Dent is preparing a substitution for Town too with Pope getting final instructions.

4:13pm

Newquay make second change as Drummond is replaced by Turner

4:13pm

52min: near calamity for Town as Jarvis' cross turned cross is spilled by Peters. Luckily their skipper Cooper is on hand to clear away

4:09pm

50min: first decent chance of half goes to Wheldon of Newquay, who hits a shot over

4:06pm

Newquay have made a substitution at half time with Jameson coming on. Harvey is off

4:04pm

Here we go again. Will there be another five goals? Let's see

4:02pm

Teams heading out for second half

4:01pm

Other half time scores I've hear about:

Truro 0-1 Chesham

Sticker 0-1 Penryn Athletic

3:58pm

Not sure what to expect in the second half. Town could go back into their shell and defend, but feel that might be a mistake. Newquay look good going forward and best form of defence may be attack

3:53pm

Correction to first goal scorer for Town, it was Wearne. Had pillar blocking my view. Excuses excuses

3:51pm

Well that was a pretty spectacular half. Free flowing football and plenty of goals. Town & Newquay have both had their spells of pressure during the half, but it is the hosts who have topped it so far

3:47pm

Half time: Falmouth 3-2 Newquay

3:47pm

Should be a fair amount of injury time

3:44pm

43min: good cross by Wheldon finds Drummond in Town box, but Greet is on hand to block shot in front of goal

3:42pm

3:40pm

Amazingly after being battered for ten minutes or so it is town who get ahead again. Trevaskis runs onto ball and slides in to beat Vercoe to ball and knock it in. This is a mad game

3:39pm

38min: GOAL TOWN

3:38pm

37min: Newquay deep in Town half for a while now. B-Evans tries again from outside box, but effort goes over. Visitors well in charge at moment

3:35pm

33min: Town defence appears to have fallen asleep here. Newquay captain Wheldon slips in at the back post but his shot skids into six yard  box. Peters gets there before Drummond can pounce

3:31pm

Town a bit unlucky as B-Evans shot from 25 yards out is deflected past Peters. Nothing he could do. It is 2-2 now

3:30pm

30min: GOAL NEWQUAY! What's going on here!

3:29pm

After a spell of pressure from Town, Newquay get back in it as Dart's curling shot is saved by peters, but Drummond is on hand for rebound and taps in. Game on

3:28pm

26min: GOAL NEWQUAY!

3:25pm

This time Trevaskis made a barnstorming run into the box. Newquay thought he had fouled but ref said no. Ball then pulled back to Wearne to slam home. What a start for Falmouth

3:23pm

22min: ANOTHER TOWN GOAL

3:22pm

On counter attack from corner, Burton put Trevaskis through. He gave it to Evans who crossed in for ex-Newquay striker Wearne to nod in at back post

3:21pm

20min: GOAL FALMOUTH!

3:18pm

17min: another chance goes begging for Newquay. This time Drummond gets ball after Sincock fails to clear, but his shot in the box dinks wide. Should have scored there

3:17pm

16min: big chance for Newquay captain Wheldon as he gets free at back post but cannot steer effort on target

3:16pm

14min: resulting corner goes right through box, then after Evans sends it back in, Vercoe makes a better effort of catching the cross and danger is averted

3:14pm

13min: Free kick deep in Newquay half. Cross in is flapped at by Vercoe, but Sims shot is blocked out for corner

3:12pm

And from nowhere, it's raining here at Bickland Park. Maybe Bertha is arriving early in Cornwall

3:09pm

8min: chance for Newquay from corner as ball finds B-Evans, but his effort is blocked by Cooper. Handball appeal turned down

3:08pm

I know it's very early on, but this has so far been a very good free flowing game of football. Both teams looked pumped

3:06pm

5min: good link up play in midfield gives Burton a chance for Town, but he shoots over. Positive signs so far from the hosts

3:05pm

4min: First sniff of a chance for Newquay swatted away by Town right back Timmons who puts in a good tackle to prevent Wheldon pulling the trigger

3:03pm

First shot of the season goes to Town's Josh sims who sends a long range effort miles over in the second minute

3:03pm

3:01pm

2:58pm

2:55pm

Just heard the bell go from the referee's room, so not long now!

2:54pm

About five minutes to go until kick off now. Nice playing conditions. Dry and sunny bit with a gentle breeze blowing across the ground

Newquay have now gone back into the changing rooms. Always exciting first day of the season. Unknown quantities all round.
