IT was another busy week at Falmouth Golf Club where the course was in superb condition and this was certainly reflected in some remarkable performances by the members.

Wednesday saw a good turnout for the Peacock Cup Monthly Medal, sponsored by Kelsall Steele Investment Services.

John Sanz was the runaway winner with a brilliant best gross score of the day with 68, including a rare hat-trick of birdies at the first three holes followed by further birdies at the seventh, 12th and 17th holes.

Ian Renshaw was second with a very useful net 65 including birdies at the 10th and 13th holes. Third was Dennis Nicholls with another tidy score of net 66 just one ahead of Robbie Edgson who took fourth place.

Saturday saw another large entry for the Bray Cup and it was another day of fireworks as Roger Fairburn won with a superb two over par gross 74 net 61.

Roger carded birdies at the fourth and 14th holes before finishing with a sensational late charge with a birdie at the 16th followed by another at 17 and then remarkably carding an eagle three at the final hole to win by two strokes from in-form Mike Watmore who had birdies at the seventh, 12th,13th and 18th holes.

Third was Chris Beer who also played well for his net 64 which included birdies at the sixth and 12th holes. Fourth was Andy Parry also with a net 64. Another 64 was returned by Paul Caunter.

Scratch player Mark Carter recorded a superb five under par gross 67, but alas had to settle for ninth place.
