CORNISH Pirates director of rugby Ian Davies said the team are looking to put challenges in for both competitions they are in for 2014/15.

Speaking at the Mennaye Field side's press day on Friday, Davies said the squad will look at winning the Greene King Championship and the British and Irish Cup.

He admitted it will be a tough task with some of the other teams they face having bigger budgets, but he added they have to go in believing they can come out victorious.

Davies said: “The way I see it we have two trophies to win and we are in both competitions to win it.

“We have doubled the size of our squad and the age profile is younger than last year with some players included who were born in 1996, which is mad to think of.

“It is going to be testing this season, but if we can keep the core players on the pitch then we can bloody some noses.”
