A TRIP away to St Just saw Helston begin their pre-season friendlies in good form as they ran out 45-14 victors.

Helston started brightly and moved the ball well with the forwards with Matt Smith and David Gilbert making some searing runs but St Just defended stoutly and it took a while for Helston to get the initial break through when after a period of sustained pressure the ball was released out wide for Ross Williams to beat the last line of defence and score the first of his two tries of the evening.

Helston continued in the same vein for the remainder of the first half adding tries from Decarlo Terice and Paul Sabberton.

St Just started the second half strongly forcing their way into the Helston 22 and after a period of sustained pressure and some strong defending from Helston drove their way over the line with a strong well constructed driving maul.

Helston regrouped and spent a large part of the half in the opposition 22 scoring several tries and to their credit St Just rallied and once again pushed forward to get their second score of the night.

Helston dug deep and finished the game strongly as they had started it and scoring with the last play of the game to round off a good team performance.
