Saturday 16th August at Falmouth Golf Club saw the members competing for four different trophies.

Fifteen year old Cornwall Youth player Ben Browning was the star of the show has he won a remarkable double of both the Hext Cup (played off scratch) and the Trevena Salver for handicaps of 12 and below both played over 36 holes with two superb level par rounds of gross 72.

Ben carded birdies at the 4th and 13th holes in the morning and followed this with birdies at the 6th and 12th holes in the afternoon.

Runner up in the scratch was Mark Carter with equally impressive gross rounds of 71 and 73. Unfortunately for Mark his bogey 6 at the 36th hole proved costly.

A similar fate befell Glen Fortune who also lost on countback in the handicap competition where his fine net aggregate of 134 equalled Ben but 3 dropped shots in the last two holes proved fatal. Third was Paul Huckle with scores of 67 & 74 for an aggregate of net 141.

The Gibbons Cup for 13 to 20 handicappers was won by Robbie Edgson. Robbie certainly knows how to get the job done and his fine net 66 followed another steady performance.

Runner up was Tony Schorah just one stroke behind and third was Ray Longstaff with a tidy net 68 but no doubt disappointed at dropping three shots over the last two holes.

The Evans Cup for 21 to 28 handicaps was well won by Iain Laity with 39 stableford points. Second was Roger Dunstan with 36 points and third was Nick Morrison with 35 points.
