CORNISH Pirates have welcomed two new signings in the form of back rower Dan Lee and fly half Bertie Hopkin.

Lee returns to Greene King IPA Championship level having previously represented Plymouth Albion before suffering a serious knee injury.

After making a recovery, the 21-year-old played for Taunton last season and is due to go back to the Somerset club for the season on loan.

Hopkin has joined on a one year contract from Guildford and is a England Counties Under 20s player.

Speaking about the signings, director of rugby Ian Davies said: "Dan impressed with his attitude during his short trial period with us.

"He has signed on a two-year deal but will most likely spend the majority of this season back at Taunton where he will be under the watchful eyes of Tony Yapp and Chris Brown.

"Dave Ward telephoned me about Bertie and we invited him down for a trial. His skill set is pretty good and Jamal had played in the same England Counties U20s team so we knew a little about his character.

"Bertie has accepted the opportunity we have offered and I have no doubt will endeavour to keep working hard to achieve a starting shirt with us this season."
