Penryn 2
Millbrook 0

Penryn needed a big performance after Tuesday night's setback at Mousehole, and Steve Jewell took a bold step in putting in 16-year-old David Leach to lead his attack.

Within a minute he forced a point blank save from Jack Dixon, then headed home a cross from David Broglino, but it was dubiously ruled out because another player had strayed into an offside position.

The breakthrough came in the 10th minute from a delightful move as Broglino swept down the right to release Sean Johnson, who in turn sent a low cross which Leach met at the near post to fire it past Dixon on the run. It was all Penryn now, as Ollie Moody went up with Dixon but as they collided the ball dropped down for Tyler Cook to send it goalwards and past the covering defenders.

To their credit Millbrook rallied to hold their own with a good standard of controlled football to prevent the home side running away with it.

Leach and Hobbs had Penryn's best chances, but to a large extent it was an uneventful second half.

Penryn face Liskeard on Saturday, due to Foxhole Stars and Truro withdrawing from the league.
