DISTANT travels to east Devon were made to feel even longer for Falmouth Town on Saturday as Cullompton Rangers fired five past them.

The win saw the hosts jump to second place in the South West Peninsula League Premier table while the Ambers remain languishing near the wrong end of the division.

Initially the day showed great promise for the away side when Harry Evans gave them the lead after 20 minutes, but proceedings soon took a turn for the worse as Josh Luxon equalised.

Rangers then pushed on and went in at half time 3-1 up thanks to goals from Marcus Fanson and Sam Towler.

Another two goals feel their way in the second half from Tony Radford before Towler doubled his tally for the match.

Some more consolation was given to Town late on when Evans scored from the penalty spot, but they go into their next game away at Bodmin Town on Wednesday night with just one league victory to their name so far this season.
