PORTHLEVEN had a bad day at the office on Saturday as they saw Holsworthy leave Gala Parc with a 3-1 victory.

The Fishermen started the day three places above their opponents, but the result would see Holsworthy end up on the same points total as Port and only below them on goal difference.

Nathan Bonney scored twice in the first half for the away side before Ryan Lee secured the three points after Freddie Williams had pulled one back for the hosts.

Port started the game without Jordan Annear after the striker twisted his ankle and also did not feature defender Dan Tarrant who was unavailable.

It took just three minutes for Bonney to open the scoring after Matt Carroll found his team-mate in the box.

His first shot was saved by Ben Bryant, but the rebound fell straight back to the Holsworthy man who made no mistake on his second attempt.

Things did not get much better for Port on the half hour mark when Matt Best tried to pass the ball back to Bryant, only for it to come up short which allowed Bonney to nip in and send the ball past the home goalkeeper.

A minute later Port did pull one back when Tom Hawkins sent the ball to Williams who then volleyed past Chris Hoare in the Magpies' goal.

This appeared to wake up the home players and they nearly equalised four minutes later when Sam Kay's shot bounced back off the crossbar.

Dan Greet managed to reach the rebound first but sent a volley wide.

They would go onto regret not taking this opportunity as just after the second half begun, Lee darted into the penalty area from the right hand side and sent his shot past Bryant at the near post to make Holsworthy 3-1.

The home side tried their best to close the gap, but the closest they came was when skipper Tom Annear forced a save from Hoare.

Tonight, Port welcome Mousehole to Gala Parc with the match kicking off at 7.30pm.
