YOUNG gig rowers from Coverack were ecstatic as they claimed the U14 Championship crown.
They took home the title at the re-arranged competition held at the Upper Tamar Lake after bad weather forced the event’s cancellation in August.
Coverack’s crew won both their heat and semi final before coming up against boats from host club Bude and Fowey in the final.
It was a closely fought race with all three crews working hard to reach the finish line.
But it was Coverack, pictured above, who timed their effort perfectly onboard Speedwell as they won by just under a length in front of Fowey.
Rowing is open to anyone from age 11 upwards at Coverack and anyone interested in trying the sport should visit www.coverackgigclub.webplus.net.
