BACKROOM staff at Falmouth Town hope their vacant managerial job will attract some decent names – despite their low league position.

Bosses at Bickland Park have begun the search for a new man to take over the hot seat in the dugout following John Dent’s resignation last Wednesday.

Their reserve team manager Wayne Hughes has been put in charge on caretaker basis.

Ambers secretary Wayne Pascoe said the club wanted to thank their old manager for his work and now hope to find a suitable replacement.

Pascoe said: “Rumours have already started flying around as to who will be taking over from John, but we are still in the early stages of recruitment.

“It is a difficult situation when you are near the bottom of the table as we are and you’re a side scrapping for points.

“But we are hoping it will be seen as a challenge for someone already in the division or perhaps from one of the lower leagues to come and take it on and perhaps make a name for themselves.”

He also answered back to comments made by Dent to the Packet regarding the current state of how the club is operating.

The man who was in charge at Bickland Park for just over a year said not enough weight is being shared behind the scenes with workloads.

“I think we are operating as best as we can,” said Pascoe.

“But it is difficult to find volunteers, although this is not something unique to us, it is a common problem everywhere at this level.

“People like to come and watch the football, but when it comes to helping out for free, they don’t really want to know.

“It is fair to say we are short on the ground, so anyone who can offer a bit of help on matchdays or in the week then it would be most welcome.”
