SMILES returned to Penryn faces after they bounced back from last week's 32-0 loss at Wadebridge to beat Devonport Services 22-11.

A win was crucial for Borough who went into the game having lost their last two without including the game with Torquay Athletic, which will be replayed.

Proceedings got off to a perfect start for the hosts as opened the scoring with a try inside the first 90 seconds of the match from left wing Jack Willey with Matt Horton converting.

Borough's pack was a dominant force throughout he game and they helped set up the second try in the 16th minute by turning a Devonport scrum.

This allowed Chris Instance the chance to touch down moments later after a beautiful showboating offload by Andrew Seviour, who sent the ball round his back.

Devonport managed to settle into the game but had to make do with just two penalty scores from Matt Anstis in the half as Borough's defence won back the ball any time it got near their 5m line.

Most of the second half was spent in Devonport's half but Penryn did not have much to shout about until the 70th minute with Horton's penalty.

Silly mistakes had cost Penryn opportunities to score in the second half, but with four minutes left they got a penalty try after Devonport's scrum was penalised several times on their own 5m line.

The away side restored some pride at the end with a Sam Bennett try in the last minute, but it was too late for them to stage a comeback.
