ED Timmons said he has been “flattered” by the response from the local footballing community after he suffered a seizure in Illogan RBL’s dugout.

The former Falmouth Town, Porthleven and Wendron United right-back was rushed to hospital during the team’s match against Bude Town on Saturday.

During the incident in what was his first game at RBL having signed recently from Falmouth, the 25-year-old hit his head on the dugout’s concrete wall, leaving him with a cut just above his ear.

He was taken to hospital, with the match being abandoned, but tests have shown no particular condition behind the fit, other than stress and lack of nutrition.

After the news broke, get well soon messages flooded in for Timmons from across Cornwall which he said were “really touching” to receive.

Timmons said: “I was on the bench as a substitute and just after the second half kicked off, I felt really dizzy, then the next thing I knew I was waking up in hospital.

“It all sounds a lot worse than it was and I actually feel a lot better than I did before the match.

“When I saw all the messages being sent into me by team-mates, new and old, friends and even guys I’ve only ever played against, it was really flattering.

“I have had so many messages on Facebook, Twitter and texts it is a little bit embarrassing, but lovely too.”

He thanked everyone at the game who assisted him, including two paramedics who just happened to watching the match along with club physio Steve Green and team-mate Josh Hoon, who is also a paramedic.

“It was very lucky that I had the help around me at the scene that I did,” he said.

“If I had been behind the wheel of a car or at home by myself, it could had led to very different consequences.”

According to doctors who treated Timmons, one in three adults will suffer from a seizure despite having no ongoing medical issues.

Timmons believes it was simply a one-off incident and is now raring to get on the pitch for his new club.

He said: “The management at Illogan have told me to take my time and make sure I recover, but I really just want to get back on the field.

“What was the most frustrating thing on Saturday was that I wanted to get on and play for my new club, but it was taken out of my hands.

“I also felt bad after I found out the match had to be abandoned.

“But I feel fine now and I want to play again as soon as possible.”
