WENDRON United manager Paul Murray says his side has no pressure on them when they take on high-flying neighbours Helston Athletic.

The teams who sit in fourth position in their respective leagues will clash at Kellaway Park on Saturday in the Cornwall Charity Cup, which is raising money for CLIC Sargent.

Athletic had sat at the top of the South West Peninsula League West table until their last week, having now been overtaken by St Dennis, Mousehole and Penryn Athletic.

Dron head into the match after romping to a 10-1 victory against Porthleven Reserves on Saturday in the Jolly’s Combination League.

Murray admitted to the Packet he may rotate the squad around for the cup game as the league title is their main focus, but believes they can still compete with their opponents.

“We are looking forward to the game against Helston,” he said.

“Earlier this season we lost to their second team, so the odds on us getting through to the next round are probably huge.

“What we plan to do is just go out there and use it as a chance to get players some minutes on the pitch, rotate a few lads to keep everyone involved fit.

“There is nothing for us to lose, which is a good position for us to be in, and I think if we do play well, we can give Helston a good game.”

The match kicks off at 2pm.
