FOUR goals from Dominic Pullen helped Falmouth Town’s reserves defeated their closest rivals Penryn Athletic 5-0 on Saturday.

It is the second time this season the Ambers have earned the bragging rights against Athletic after the pair met in the preliminary round of the Jolly’s Combination League Cup last month.

Back then it was another high scoring affair as it finished 4-3 at Kernick Road, but this time Penryn had no answers to Town, who have extended their unbeaten run to seven matches.

They were slow out of the blocks though as Penryn had the better of the opening exchanges going close on a couple of occasions.

But Falmouth’s experience and quality shone through with some excellent interchanging between defence and midfield resulting in a pin point cross from Ben Allen finished off by a diving Stephen Owen header.

The lead was doubled after fantastic run from Sam Bromley on the left followed by another superb cross finished off by the prolific Pullen.

He soon added his second of the game after determination from Owen closing down defence and goalkeeper before picking out his strike partner for a free header into an empty net.

Town’s experience continued to shine through in the second half with skipper Steve Winnan and Luke Appelton controlling the game in midfield.

Pullen added his third with a glancing header from a Darren Friend free kick before completing the scoring from the penalty spot after substitute Steve Retchford.
