PENRYN Athletic earn their second win of the season over Helston Athletic after putting in a dominant shift at Kellaway Park.

Tyler Cooke pounced on two defensive errors in the second half to score on both occasions, adding his name to he scoresheet alongside team-mates Kevin Lawrence and Dave Broglino.

The latter got his goal from the penalty spot just before the half time break when he was brought down in the box by Jordan Adlard, who as the last defender was shown a red card for the foul.

It was a disappointing afternoon for the Blues who lost 5-4 on September 24 to the same team and could not match the work rate and defensive solidity of their opponents in this second instalment.

Lawrence gave Penryn the lead after 18 minutes when he finished off a move started by Luke Brabyn's run down the right before pulling it back to the midfielder who hit a shot which was deflected past Jason Robertson.

Charlie Young got an equaliser for Helston eight minutes later as he nodded home the ball from a short corner which gave Kirk Davies the chance to cross from the left.

This did not rock Penryn though as they kept resolute with their game plan and retook the lead in the 45th minute from the penalty spot.

Things were looking bleak for the hosts and they only made proceedings tougher for themselves in the space of 120 seconds in the second half.

In the 58th minute, Robertson lost control of a back pass from Jowan Shainberg which Cooke was able to gobble up and stroke the ball into an empty net.

Then two minutes later, home skipper Jamie Thomson saw his weak back pass intercepted by Lawrence, who went onto set up another tap-in for Cooke.

Helston did not have any answers after this as Penryn closed out what turned into a feisty match as tackles and aggrievation flew in.

Just three weeks separate their next meeting as Kellaway Park will be the venue for a Cornwall Senior Cup clash between the two sides.
