PRIZES were brought home by runners from Falmouth and Penryn as they raced in the annual five mile Cornwall Mob Match.

Competitors from Falmouth Road Runners and Mile High secured first place in divisions two and three of the event which saw more than 340 athletes taking part from across the county.

The emphasis of the meet, which starts outside the Falmouth Hotel and is the last race of the 2014 season, is on team results with clubs encouraged to bring as many members as possible.

They are then split between three categories depending on the size of their squad, with the top division seeing teams scored off their first ten finishers, eight in the second and six in the mixed final group.

For the 13th year in a row the men from Pool-based Cornwall Athletics Club won the top prize with their score of 106 trouncing second place Newquay Road Racers by 402 points, while their females won their section for the seventh consecutive time.

But arguably the most popular victory of the day came for the host club in Division Two as they tallied up 332 points, putting them 118 ahead of reigning champions Carn Runners.

In Division Three, the all male team from Penryn-based Mile High came home with 133 points to claim the victory with all six of their runners finishing in the top 41 places.

Their first man home, Richard Pascoe, came in ninth place overall in the men's race with a time of 28:18.

He finished 17 seconds behind Helston's Paul Whear who backed up his win at the Cornwall Marathon seven days earlier with a solid run.
