A STERN test has been handed to Falmouth on the opening day of the 2015 cricket season as they head to all conquering St Just.

The side will travel to the club who won the three main trophies in 2014 on April 25 in the western half of the Premier League 50/50 Cup.

It will be a rematch of last season’s Vinter Cup Final which saw St Just win by 21 runs.

When the Premier League fixtures kick-off on May 23, Falmouth will host Truro at Trescobeas Road before travelling to St Just again on the second Bank Holiday Monday.

Penryn-based St Gluvias will start life in County One after earning promotion last year by hosting Callington, who relegated from the top league on the final day of the season, at Kernick Road on April 25.

The team skippered by Jon Udy will then travel to Wadebridge and Roche in the next two games before hosting St Minver.

In the same division, Helston open up their season with a trip to Launceston and then host Gorran the following week.

Their highly anticipated derby clashes against Beacon will take place on June 20 at home and away on August 8.

Falmouth Packet:

After a tough 2014 with just one league victory, Stithians will be hoping for an easier ride this year in Division Two West with Camborne seconds their opening day opponents.

On May 25 they visit Falmouth seconds with the return fixture on August 31.

Praze, who achieved promotion to Division Two West last season, will start the campaign away to Falmouth seconds before hosting Rosudgeon and Gulval in the next two matches.

Helston’s second team also went up a division at the end of last season and will begin life in Division Four West at home to St Buryan.

They then face a trip to St Gluvias to play their seconds before welcoming Perranporth to Beacon Park the following week.

Stithians’ second team who were handed promotion during the winter as some of the leagues were restructured and begin the season at home to Gulval seconds.

St Gluvias’ third team were also promoted after the reshuffle and start the season in Division Five West by hosting Crofty Holman seconds.

In Division Six West, Helston’s third team will be making their league debut.

First up for them is a derby with Praze seconds before they entertain Penzance thirds, another debutant side, seven days later.

The final round of league games take place on September 5 with the Division Two to Five County Finals being held on September 12 and the Division 6 Final on September 19.
