AFTER spinning around some of Britain’s most famous tracks in 2014, Falmouth’s Forest Dunn is taking his career up another gear in the new year.

The 26-year-old has confirmed he will be flying out to Northern Spain in March to do some testing on superbikes ahead of the 2015 season.

Over the space of four days, Dunn will be riding on the Circuito Cartagena to ride his Kawasaki to get some mileage under his belt before heading back onto British tarmac.

Last year, he took part in National Superstock 1000 Series races held at the iconic Brands Hatch track along with another at Thruxton for the Jones Dorling Racing team.

With his training already well under way away from the track, Dunn believes his time in Spain will help him improve further as a rider.

Dunn said: “I’m feeling very positive about heading out there.

“So far my off-season has been going really good along with the winter training which has involved cycling 80 miles and more plus going to the gym.

“I had a bit of bad luck towards the end of last season as I wrote my bike off, but it has been in the Mss Kawasaki workshop where Nick Morgan and his team have rebuilt it from the ground up and I’m looking forward to getting back onboard.

“It’ll be great to get the testing done out in Spain and I’m confident it will really benefit me for the rest of 2015.”

Speeds reached on the motorbike by Dunn hit around the 170mph mark, but he said the trip will not just be about doing quick laps.

“Daily life for me in Spain will consist of a 9am start on the track after breakfast at the hotel,” Dunn, pictured above, said.

“There, I’ll be having between four and six sessions each day around the track, only stopping halfway through for lunch before heading back to the hotel for swimming sessions.

“Alongside getting up to speed, me and the team will also be monitoring things like the tyre pressures, suspension settings and my riding position to work out the best feel for me and the bike.”

Before being able to sort out the tests, Dunn had to raise £2,000 and has set an ongoing target of £500 a month to help him compete during the year.

The rider said he was delighted with the support he has received so far in his fledgling racing career.

Dunn said: “Without my sponsors I wouldn’t be in this position and I really want to thank Barry and Dolina Hughes for being there from the start.

“Also, I’m very grateful for the support from Chris Jones, the Jones Dorling Racing team, everyone at Mss Kawasaki and all the people who have joined my sponsorship page on Facebook.

“I also wouldn’t be here without the support of Southwest Motorcycles in Penryn who have given me backing ever since I started riding motorbikes.”
