LIAM Eddy said he is already dreaming of playing at Wembley Stadium in the FA Vase Final – even if it means missing Flora Day.

The 23-year-old from Helston is just three games away from the coveted match with St Austell at the iconic stadium which will take place on May 9.

On Saturday, the Lilywhites made it to the quarter finals of the competition after beating Essex’s Stanway Rovers 2-0 at Poltair Park in front of just under 900 supporters.

They will now welcome Ascot United to their ground on February 28, with the winners going into the two-legged semi finals round.

St Austell are the lowest ranked team left in the Vase, but the former Helston Athletic and Truro City striker said they believe they can make it to Wembley.

Eddy said: “You have got to dream, otherwise what is the point of playing.

“We have six or seven players in our squad who have played in a higher level of football, so there is nothing to say we cannot do it.

“It has always been a dream to play at Wembley, even if it means having to miss Flora Day, as that will be the next day.

“But even though I’m a Helston boy, if I had the choice of playing at Wembley or going to Flora Day, I’d have to pick Wembley, even if I shouldn’t say that.”

So far their run to the quarter finals, Eddy has bagged nine goals for the Lilywhites.

He did not get on the scoresheet on Saturday, but said being part of the match was fantastic.

“It was almost surreal,” Eddy said.

“Normally behind the goals, there’s only seven or eight fans stood there, but there were so many crammed in there on Saturday.

“Also when we scored, the roar that came out of the crowd was immense and you can see how players get a kick out of it in the higher leagues.”
