PLAYERS from Falmouth Golf Club missed out on the Cornwall Presidents Trophy on Sunday as they fell to a 5.5 – 3.5 defeat against Carlyon Bay.

The eventual winners had raced into a 4-1 lead at Newquay before Falmouth staged a comeback to close the gap to a point with the last match still being contested.

Louis Gough held his nerve though against Mark Carter to round off the victory for Carlyon in front of a large number of supporters from both clubs.
