PENRYN Saracens defied having their squad badly hit by first team call ups to register an impressive and comfortable 55-12 victory against an also depleted Helston team.

It's a compliment to the development of the team this season to see so many of the regular Saracens players getting selected by the first team, but there is plenty of strength in depth at Borough and just as many impressive young players coming through.

In appalling conditions, Penryn did well in the first half and were throwing the ball around against the wind registering tries from Ross Hancock, Jake Bailey, George Mitchell and James Evans with James Salisbury adding a couple of conversions.

Helston did reply in the shape of Penryn's own Michael Heazelton, who was kind enough to help ensure the hosts could play with a full team for a more even match.

The second half was much of the same and with Borough aided by the wind this time, they registered another five tries against the tiring hosts.

Mitchell and Bailey completed their respective hat-tricks with Salisbury again converting.

There was still a final try to come from Sam Perry who filled in at scrum-half on the day following a neat, albeit fortunate chip through.

Perry, who was selected as man-of-the-match, converted his own try which signalled the end of the afternoon’s action.
