RUSSELL Lawrance has stood down as head coach of Penryn due to work commitments in London.

The Yorkshireman who took charge of Borough's first team affairs in the summer told the Packet on Saturday evening he had informed the club he could not longer continue in the role.

The announcement came shortly after the team lost 24-20 at home to Wellington in the Tribute Western Counties West Division.

Lawrance told Packet Sport: "I have informed the club I cannot commit further due to work commitments."

Much speculation has surrounded the head coach position at Penryn in recent weeks after rumours emerged Borough's committee wanted to sack Lawrance, but this view was in contrast to the players who wanted him to stay put.

It is alleged an agreement was reached which allowed Lawrance to stay as head coach until the end of the season before a final decision was made, but this has not been confirmed by the club.
