A BRUISED and battered Falmouth Town will not fancy the prospect of a trip to Ivybridge Town this weekend after being stuffed 6-0 by the same team on Saturday.

The Ambers were hoping to turn some of the positive energy which has flowed around Bickland Park in recent months into just their eighth victory in their last 55 South West Peninsula League Premier home games.

However, they were outplayed by Ivybridge who occupy fourth spot in the division and injuries sustained in the match did not help the hosts, who ended up with ten men on the field as Ed Timmons had to limp off after all their substitutes had been used.

It took the visitors 28 minutes to make the breakthrough with Luke Brown slotting past Jason Peters before Mike Brown soon doubled the lead as he cut in from the touchline, passed three defenders and fired home.

Home striker Kayne Trevaskis had to go off injured towards the end of the first half and just ahead of the break, Mark Berry made it 3-0 when his free kick went under the wall and trickled in off the post despite Peters getting both hands to it.

Tom Whipp came close to getting Town on the scoreboard when he saw his header from a corner cleared off the line in the 57th minute by Sam Marker.

To somewhat rub salt in the wound, the away side added their fourth just three minutes later when Jack Alexander was put through before calmly converting the effort.

Steve Sutton used his express pace to make it 5-0 as he sprinted onto a long ball over the top, beating the offside trap in the process, and shooting past Peters.

Veteran striker Dom Pullen was thrown on by Wayne Hughes after this goal, but disaster struck moments later when Timmons was forced off and with no subs left, Town had to complete the match a man down.

Their misery was completed in the 84th minute when Mike Smith added a second to his tally as he held off a couple of defenders to get his shot away and give Ivybridge their best victory of the season.
