A STEADY ten knot North Westerly wind greeted the competitors for the fifth race in the Penrose Sailmakers Series, writes Stephen Nicholls.

E fleet got off to a very good start at Mylor Yacht Club, although General Khaos was a bit too eager and had to return to the start line allowing the rest of the fleet to head towards the windward mark.

Despite this error, the crew were still the first to finish, but when the handicaps were calculated, Adelie was awarded first place.

In U Class, five boats took to the start line and sailed the same course as E did, with Wizard of Clee reaching the finish first and also topping the table on handicap by nine seconds.

Q and H Classes sailed a shorter triangular course with Chalonnaise, Rococo and Ysella making excellent port hand starts.

Mara was first in Q and Ysella in H.

The last race of the series takes place on Friday where there will be some keen competition to decide the final placings.
