PAUL Murray has said he is "very upset" to be leaving Wendron United so soon after achieving promotion to the South West Peninsula League West Division.
As revealed by Packet Sport on Twitter, the man who also led the club to the Combination League Cup and Evely Cup titles last season has announced he will be standing down due to reason related to his job outside of football.
Murray spent two seasons in the Underlane dugout and saw the team finish second in the Combination League in both.
He will be replaced by former Helston Athletic, Mullion and Cury manager Stuart Massey.
"I am sad to be leaving," Murray told the Packet.
"But my work situation is changing away from the club and for the foreseeable future I will not be able to really sort out the pre-season training and friendlies, so I felt standing down was the right thing to do for the club.
"I will still continue to be around the club as a supporter whenever I can get there for games and I wish them all the best."
He also said he was delighted the club had managed to find a new manager quickly in the form of Massey.
Murray said: "I've had a great time managing the club and it does kind of feel like handing your children over to social services.
"But Stuart is an experienced manager and I'll sure he'll do a great job in charge."
