OTHER boats were left in a daze as Black Dog romped to a fine victory at Royal Cornwall Yacht Club with warm breezes blowing for the first time this season on Friday.
Starting just south of St Mawes Castle, the multihulls in IRC One set off with Black Dog building a lead from Per Elisa and the boat continued to cruise ahead with their spinnaker flying, giving her an alarming speed.
It was proving to be a battle for second place as Per Elisa was caught up by the chasing pack before while the boats in IRC Two, following the same course, enjoyed a long downwind run to the Old Wall south of Pendennis Point.
Black Dog continued to decimate the fleet with their speed and by the end had increased their lead to more than a kilometre, while Per Elisa managed to snatch back second place in the final standings.
Encore claimed victory in the IRC Two race ahead of Scorpion and Excelle.
