A SUCCESSFUL year of sport was celebrated at Penryn College during their seventh annual Sports Personality Awards.

Prizes were handed out during the evening to pupils recognising their achievements over the last 12 months with 800 votes being cast.

The top awards of the night went to Year 8 rugby, athletics and football star Charlie Levick for the males while Amy Walker was given the female gong after getting picked in the netball, hockey and cross-country county teams.

On top of this, the Year 9 pupil also made it into Cornwall's Under 17s badminton side at the age of 14.

Levick's outstanding year saw him get selected in his age group for Cornwall rugby, claim 100m silver medal at the county championships and play a part with the school's football team

Other winners on the night were football and athletics star Max Bowden and netballer Mollie Martin, who won their respective Sports Performers prizes.

Finn Cross was the second recipient of the Ros Bastian Award for an excellent contribution off the field this year while the U16’s netball team clutched the team prize for reaching the national finals.

Tilly Theobold and Cealan D'Souza won the Year 10 gongs with Megan Hart and Floyd Radcliffe being victorious in Year 9.

Taking home the Year 8 prizes were Liberty Hartley and Guy Brooks while Maddie Roe and Sam Walker were named winners in Year 7.

Former pupils Lewis Webb and George Jones were also part of the celebrations as they discussed their exploits with last season's successful Cornwall rugby team, bringing the Bill Beaumont Cup with them to the ceremony.
