A PAIR of enthusiastic volunteers will be doing a holy 216 mile cycling challenge which will take them past churches in Falmouth and Helston, writes John Olive.

Joe Davidson and Jon Ramage are taking their bikes around the sites on September 17 and 18, pedalling from St Morwenna's in Morwenstow along the north coast to St Just-in-Penwith before sweeping round to the south and finishing in Plymouth.

Their journey is being done to raise money for the Cornwall Historic Churches Trust and will see them visit more than 100 churches.

Looking ahead to the trip, Davidson said: "We’re looking forward to it hugely, but it's a bit daunting, and now we're into serious training.

"Both of us take part in the cycle-to-work scheme, but we've never done anything like this distance before.

"But we shall be raising money for a very good cause."
