PLAYERS are gearing up for the first Falmouth Summer Darts tournament at Bickland Park on Sunday.

A total of 64 people have entered the competition with a guaranteed seven matches each to play and a top cash prize of £250.

The contest will consist of a round-robin knock-out format.

It will be the event's debut and organisers are hoping it will be a success.

Darren Green said: "A lot of hard work has gone into the preparation for the event, but we hope that it will be a successful day.

"It could become a regular event if it proves to be enjoyable and it runs comfortably.

"We thought the tournament would be a good idea and would benefit players from the teams from the Falmouth and Penryn area currently playing in the Cornwall Super League."

Depending on the success of this year's maiden event, Green went onto say the next edition could also feature other activities like a five-a-side football tournament, barbecue, bouncy castle and much more.
