A REMARKABLE achievement was bagged by Sam Duckham on Saturday as he bowled a side out by himself.

The St Gluvias second team player rattled through Gulval second's batting line-up, which only featured nine men, as he worked his way to figures of eight for 19 off 10.5 overs.

Eventually Gulval were blown away for 32 in the Division Four West clash, a score chased down inside six overs by the Saints for a seven wicket win.

Among his scalps, Duckham clean bowled six of the eight batsmen, with an LBW and catch from Chris Johnson helping him pick the other two wickets up.

The 22-year-old's previous best figures were six for 27 and he said single handedly bowling a team out was a "pretty good" feeling.

Duckham said: "Credit to Gulval for turning a side out, but it felt nice to break the 50 wickets for the season mark with my best ever figures.

"At one stage my figures for six for two and the overall score was 10 for six when I had an big LBW shout, only for the umpire to say "we were beating them enough".

"It was good humoured and I am just happy to put in a performance like this."

He could not repeat his success on Monday as the Saints faced Penzance seconds in a top of the table clash, with Duckham picking up just one wicket this time.

However, it did play a part in the team winning at Kernick Road by 42 runs.
