FOR the fifth year in a row Falmouth Gig Club's men won the County Championship in Newquay on Sunday.

The crew, who also picked up the world title in May, managed to beat their rivals in the final after a hard weekend of racing.

They recorded a time of 27.27 in the final to finish 40 seconds ahead of Caradon, who just eased past Looe to claim second place.

Fowey finished fourth ahead of Penryn, with Caradon's B team completing the final line-up.

Falmouth's B crew also had a good weekend as they reached the semi finals while Penryn B and Cadgwith made it to the quarter final stage.

In the Under 16s, Coverack finished third behind champions Caradon and runners-up Fowey.
