Penryn Athletic boss Steve Jewell is hoping to go one better than last year when his team embark on another Charity Cup adventure on Saturday.

The Kernick Road outfit narrowly lost to St Dennis in the final at Truro - but the brighter news is that they despatched Saturday's opponents Sticker 5-0 in the semis.

However, Jewell is not expecting it to be as one-sided this time: "I played with Andy Avery (Sticker manager) for a couple of seasons and I know it'll be a difficult game because he'll have them well organised. They haven't scored lots of goals this season but they haven't conceded many either, so it should be an interesting game because we're the second highest scorers in the league."

With some of Cornwall's heavyweights such as St Austell and Bodmin not in the competition, Jewell describes it as a "winnable cup".

"For a club like ours it would be an achievement to reach the semi-finals of the Senior Cup but then you're likely to meet one of the big boys. But we have a definite chance of going all the way again in this one."

Jewell has no injury worries following their 6-0 win over Millbrook and he welcomes back striker Greg Hobbs, who was unavailable on Saturday.

Wendron are also in Charity Cup action when struggling Millbrook make a second trip to West Cornwall in a week. Boss Charlie Davis will be without the services of strike pair Michael O'Neill and Tom Langford, who are both working, while centre half Chris Madeley is also unavailable.

Davis, a PE teacher at Penryn College, said: "Like most Plymouth-based teams I'd expect Millbrook to be physical, but it's a great opportunity for a couple of other lads who can stake their claim in the absence of some of our best players."

Among other ties, Jolly's Combination League high-flyers Mullion will be aiming to cause an upset at home to Dobwalls, while Porthleven face the daunting task of trying to overturn SWPL Division 1 West leaders Mousehole at Gala Parc.
