Premier Division

Bridge A cling on to the top spot of the Premier Division of the West Cornwall Table Tennis League by a single point over Falmouth Docks B before the teams meet this week in a match which could help decide who wins the title. Bridge A picked up 19 points from a possible 20 against Mylor A and Docks D in their last two matches. Will Abouelhana and Kelly Reed both finished unbeaten, Austin Chapman won five but lost to Karim Ali from Mylor.

Docks B also picked up 19 points from their two matches as they beat Mounts Bay A 10,0 and Docks C 9,1. Steve Lobb and David Plumb both won six from six, Malcolm Peters won five but lost out to Alex Hunt.

Docks A have lost ground in their pursuit of the title as they beat People’s Palace 8,2 and Mylor A 9,1. Dave Waddington won all six, Adrian Noott won three, Chris Peters won five from six and Dominique Williams won one. Harry Stanbury played superbly for Mylor as he played up from the first division and managed to beat Chris in 4 ends. Kevin Fudge and Steve Hunt both won one each for Palace. These two results leave Docks A 16 points off first position in the league table with 7 matches remaining in this season.

Docks C thrashed two man Docks D 9,1 with Mark Meijvis and Paul Jenkin both winning two from two, Dominique Williams won one but lost to Charlie Scorse in four tight ends.

Mounts Bay A inflicted a heavy 8,2 defeat over Palace as the evergreen Nigel Cock and his son Mark both finished the match unbeaten, only dropping one end each all match. Rob Dyer won one but lost to Steve Hunt and Kevin Fudge.

First Division

Bridge B have closed the gap to Mounts Bay B at the top of the First Division after picking up 17 points over the past fortnight as they thrashed Harris Mill 10,0 and St Ives A 7,3. Paul Thomas, Mihai Lazar and Bernard Harvey all won five from six over the two matches but all lost out to the experience of David Smith from St Ives. Mounts Bay B now have a slender 2 point lead at the top of the table.

St Ives B are up to third after a draw away at Saracens A was followed by a narrow 6,4 win against Mylor B. 14 year old Eden Regan is excelling this season and he won all six games comfortably, Jeremy Oates won four. Joe Tuffrey was the standout player for Saracens as he won two, Aiden Rollason and Morgan Cardell both won one each. Chris Buckingham won two for Mylor B, Max Luscombe and Ian Bell both won one.

Docks F then suffered another defeat, this time at the hands of Saracens A 7,3. Aiden and Morgan won two each this match with Joe winning one. Freya Tuffrey, Finley Thomson and Roger Scorse all won one point for Docks F. In their other match Docks F were whitewashed by Mylor B. Chris Bassett teamed up with Ian and Max to complete a comfortable victory.

St Ives A beat two man Penpol 8,2 with David Smith and Tristan Wynne both winning two from two, Andrew Nicholson and Andrew Senior both won one from three for Penpol.

Mylor C move to within 2 points of their B team after a 7,3 win at home to Docks E. Harry Stanbury again showed his class as he won all three, Mike Elford produced a rare good performance to win two and Neil Pinkett won one. Paige Baker, Brian Nicholls and Josh Preston all won one point each for Docks E.

Docks G won their first match of the season as they narrowly beat Harris Mill 6,4 in a very tight match. Daniel Preston was in outstanding form as he won all three, Nick and Lewis Preston both won one each but lost to George Banfield and Anthony Solway.

Second Division

Falmouth Docks H lead the Second Division table by only two points after thrashing Mounts Bay D 10,0 and Docks L 8,2. Teenager Jensen Hatcher again showed his potential as he won six from six, Brian Johnson also finished unbeaten. Dave Hatcher won four but lost to Ben Charity and Liam Iliffe.

St Ives C are keeping the pressure on Docks H after beating Mounts Bay C 9,1 and Mount Ambrose 6,4. Reuben Veal was the strongest player for St Ives as he won five from six, Josh Francis won his three. William Wynne, Stephane Veal and Peter George won two each, but all lost to Mike Kent of Mount Ambrose.

Cape Cornwall are only 6 points behind leaders Docks H after a hard fought draw against Mount Ambrose was followed by a comfortable 7,3 win at home to Docks J. David May and Kaye Stenner both won five from six singles, and both doubles matches. Mike Kent was again the player of the match for Mount Ambrose as he won all three, Ian Packenas and Marcus Rogers won one each. Richard Summers, Ian McLeod and John Tuffrey all won one each for Docks J.

Mylor D beat both Docks J and Docks K 6,4, Sam Sloggett was the strongest player for Mylor as he won five from six. David Jenkin, Mark Norcross and Steve Marquess all won two, Richard Summers picked up two points for Docks J and John Tuffrey one.

Mylor E lost 8,2 at home to Docks K and 7,3 to Docks L. Digby Bowdler and Keith Randall both won two from six, Yuki Reed won one. Callan Hurst starred for Docks K as he won all his three as did Dennis Williams, Danielle Watson won one.

Mounts Bay D secured their first win of the season as they narrowly beat Saracens B 6,4. John Holman and Heather Dyer both won two from three, Jonathan Bradbury won one. Harry Rose was the player of the match as he won all three for Saracens, Owen Donaghy picked up their final point.
