Mousehole 7, Porthleven 0

PORT were outgunned by an outstanding Mousehole team who strengthened their Division 1 West title claims with another devastating attacking display at Trungle Parc on Saturday.

The Fishermen recruited former manager Dennis Annear to play in goal as both the club's regular keepers were unavailable.

Despite making several fine saves, the 44 year old was unable to stem the tide, as the Seagulls moved eleven points clear of second-placed Sticker.

The visitors suffered the worst possible start when Lewis Caspell's second minute shot deflected off Joel Allen and left Annear with no chance.

Jowan Shaneberg then had to be replaced by Lewis Emsley after suffering a groin strain, before Mousehole doubled their lead after half an hour when Allen brought down Steve Burt and Bradley Wills converted the resulting penalty.

A killer third goal came just before the break when Will sent Burt away to put the hosts firmly in command.

The one-way traffic continued in the second period and the impressive Tim Nixon pulled the ball back from the by-line for Wills to score from close range.

Caspell added a fifth before Wills complete his hat-trick and Simon Stephens sealed Port's misery with a shot across Annear in the final moments.

Porthleven: D Annear, M Best, J Shaneberg (L Emsley 10), J Allen, D Tarrant, Liam Hunter, G Molcher (C Beesley 60), C Young, F Williams, J Webber (N Taylor 60), Luke Hunter. Subs not used: R Trathen, K Woodhouse.

Port have a huge game at home to fellow strugglers Vospers Oak Villa on Saturday (3pm).
