Prop Jack Andrew and scrum-half Mike Pope have signed new contracts for the Cornish Pirates next season, taking the tally to 25 players.

Truro-born Jack, aged 25, signed for the Cornish Pirates in 2013, having previously played for Plymouth Albion, Exeter Chiefs, and the Cornish All Blacks.

A younger brother of squad member Paul Andrew, the former Truro College student has to date made 63 appearances for the club.

As for Mike, who similarly joined the Cornish Pirates in 2013 and is also aged 25, he played youth rugby for his hometown of Bournemouth. Educated at Brockenhurst College and then the University of Exeter, the former England Students player has also skippered Exeter Chiefs in the JP Morgan Sevens.

Injuries this past couple of seasons have proved frustrating, but back to full fitness his next appearance for the Pirates will see him reach the 50 games milestone.

Speaking with reference to this latest squad news, Director of Rugby Ian Davies said: “These two lads complete the re-signings for next season, and the positional versatility of both players will be vital for the squad make up.”
