Hayle Runners had team members at the London Marathon,the Shakespeare Marathon and half Marathon at Stratford on Avon, and the Madrid Marathon at the weekend and were well pleased with the results.

As usual the club had a large contingent of runners at the London Marathon many of whom were raising sponsorship for good causes including the team nominated charity CHUF the Cornish Heart Unit Fund. Daniel Costello led the team home with a storming run finishing the marathon in 2 hours 41 minutes,followed by Scott Abraham in 2 hours 50 minutes and Rich Savage in 2 hours 55 minutes.

Faye Savage was the first woman home in 3 hours 18 minutes closely followed by Charlotte Bennett in 3 hours 19 minutes and Amy Jose in 3 hours 22 minutes.Full results below.

At Stratford the race coincided with the celebrations for Shakespeare’s birthday so the town was busier than ever to see off the runners.

Club Captain Craig Tonkin improved on his recent Paris Marathon time by 13 minutes to lead the team home in 3 hours 30 minutes he was followed by Kevin King in 3 hours 39 minutes and Andy Moore in 3 hours 45 minutes. The runs of the day came from Hayle Runners women team who retained the women team title at the Marathon for the second year.They were led home by Julia Burns in 3 hours 46 minutes with Sharon Lamerton following in 3 hours 50 minutes with Ellen Bastiani and Kelly Moore close behind in 3 hours 51 minutes.

Jenny Osbourn finished in 5 hours 57 minutes.

At the half Marathon at Stratford Tom Rosenfeld led the team home in a new personal best of 1 hour 25 minutes,Steve Cooling finished in 1 hour 37 minutes,Melissa Poultry was first woman home for the club in a new personal best, Jenna Townsend and dad Stewart both finished in 2 hours 5 minutes and Pam Ray finished with another personal best in 2 hours 21 minutes.

Alex Wall ran the marathon in warmer conditions in Madrid and finished 3 hours 46 minutes.
