Gig crews giving their all in the 2016 World Pilot Gig Championships will be able to relive the excitement of this weekend's races thanks to Sharp’s Brewery.
Sharp’s Brewery, based in Rock, North Cornwall, is sponsoring the on-the-water photography at the iconic event this weekend. With photographer Anna Willmot taking to the high seas to capture the thrilling races from a speedboat, all participating gig rowers then have the chance to enjoy the drama of the competition and share the spirit of adventure when back on dry land.
James Nicholls, Sharp’s Brewery’s Senior Brand Manager, said: “It is an honour to help to capture the adventure and spirit of the crews at the World Pilot Gig Championships by sponsoring the on-the-water photography.
“At Sharp’s we are passionate about Cornwall and adventure, so we are thrilled to be supporting all the gigs teams in one of the world’s most iconic rowing events. And what could be more adventurous that hundreds of crews taking to the sea around the Isles of Scilly.”

The World Pilot Gig Championships formally began in 1990, with a handful of Cornish teams taking to the water to prove their skill and endurance. The event has since grown into an internationally recognised highlight of the rowing calendar with more than 100 crews from across Cornwall, the UK and as far as afield as Holland and the USA vying to be crowned world champions.
