The Cornish Pirates can confirm that prop Luke Chapman has signed for the club as a member of the Player Development Foundation (PDF).
Cornishman Luke, who was raised on a farm near Looe and started his rugby with Liskeard-Looe under 9s, was educated at Looe Community School and then Truro College. He also did one year at Bicton College in Devon studying Sports Coaching.
Luke has played senior rugby for Exmouth, Plymouth Albion, and the Cornish All Blacks where in 2015/16 he featured in all 30 National Two league games.
It was a very tough season, but one that proved invaluable for the 20-year-old, scrummaging against some very experienced players. He also trained with the Pirates, and featured as a replacement in a friendly match played at Torquay against Bath
University.
A young player with the potential to develop and progress in the game, Luke, who made his senior debut for Cornwall in this year’s Tamar Cup win against Devon, looks to have a bright future.
Cornish Pirates’ Player/Coach Alan Paver commented: “Luke has trained with us once a week throughout the past season and has shown a cracking attitude. With him joining the PDF on a full time basis it now means he can develop his all round game including a lot of hard work with Francis and the strength and conditioning team.”
