FALMOUTH TOWN boss Andrew Westgarth is doubly delighted this week after signing former Porthleven pair Jordan and Tom Annear from Newquay.

The Mount Wise club only avoided relegation to Division 1 West on the last day of the season in May and the brothers, whose father Dennis was one of Cornwall's top keepers, had a big influence on Newquay's survival.

Westgarth said: "I've had my eye on them for a while because they have a great attitude and are willing to contribute as part of a team. Jordan has scored a lot of goals and Tom is a jack of all trades - he has played in centre midfield and in goal against us before."

"I'm looking to strengthen the squad and that's a great start to the summer. Pre-season training starts at the end of June so I'd like to have my squad ready by then, but if it takes a bit longer to bring in one or two more players, it won't worry me."

The South West Peninsula League season only ended a month ago, but already the draw for next season's League Cup has been made.

Town face an intriguing trip to nearby Wendron, while Penryn Athletic visit Illogan. Helston travel to St Blazey in an all-Premier clash, while Porthleven are also on the road to Dobwalls.

Ties to be played by September 17.
