For the third year running the Cornish Pirates will play Aberavon Wizards in a pre-season fixture.

The Pirates lost 27-24 away in 2014, whilst in another close encounter they emerged narrow victors, 31-29, at their Mennaye Field home last year.

This summer’s game will be played at the Welsh Premiership side’s Talbot Athletic Ground on Saturday, August 13 – kick-off at 5.30pm – where the Pirates will likely come up against a familiar face in Rheon James.

Since recently returning home to Wales, centre Rheon has signed for the Wizards with whom he had a loan spell in 2013/14.

Another pre-season fixture previously confirmed by the Cornish Pirates is an away encounter against Northampton Saints. To be played at Franklin’s Gardens on Saturday, August 20, for the home side it is one game in a double-header of match action, as the Saints will also play Rotherham Titans on the same day.

The format will be Saints versus Pirates at 1.30pm and Saints versus Titans at 4pm – ticket information to be confirmed via www.northamptonsaints.co.uk in the next few days.
